The Riviera Maya stretches from Puerto Morelos south of the Cancun airport to Tulum. Cancun seems to melt into Puerto Morelos so it's easy to miss when you're headed from your plane to the depths of the Riviera. Puerto Morelos started as a small fishing village and the main port to Cozumel. These days the shores are lined with beautiful resorts, fine restaurants, and much needed watering holes.

Travel Times

Like the rest of the Caribbean, the hurricane season is from June to November. Although it seems like there is no low season to this tropical paradise the rainy season is from August to October. They have a semi-tropical climate (hot and muggy) The average temperature is between 22-35°C with high humidity (usually over 85%). With an average ocean temperature of around 25°C and an average 240 days of sunshine/year. Low season deals are a plenty as the resorts compete with more prosperous areas to fill up their capacities.

Must See

Croco Cun zoo has great tours, well worth the money. A typical tour is about an hour, you get to hold touch and feed local wild animals of all types. If you’re brave enough you can even walk amongst the crocodiles.
