Puerto Aventuras has several Marinas full of high-end boats that offer amazing tours. Largely a gated American destination there is no shortage of accommodations with breathtaking ocean views.
Like the rest of the Caribbean, the hurricane season is from June to November. Although it seems like there is no low season to this tropical Paradise the rainy season is from June to October. They have a semi-tropical climate (hot and muggy) The average temperature is between 20-35°C with high humidity (usually over 85%). With an average ocean temperature of around 25°C and an average 240 days of sunshine/year
There are lots to see in this quiet town for the side street adventurer. Something that is difficult to avoid while checking out the marina in Puerto Aventuras is the Dolphin Discovery Center. There were no shows going on when I visited. I took a look at the many pools that hold the animals and was quite disgusted with their filthy and small living conditions. I could actually see the depression in the dolphins’ eyes as they gazed out of their pens at the gawking tourists snapping pictures. As an animal rights activist, I ask you. Please don’t support dolphinariums or any other places or people that use animals for profit. Imagine being kidnapped and held in a bathroom-sized pen only to be fed when you perform a trick! Dance monkey dance! Below is a review I found on trip advisor that sums up my feelings on Dolphin Discovery at Puerto Adventuras.
