Akumal means land of turtles in the Maya language. This Turtle Sanctuary is one of the most peaceful destinations within the Riviera Maya. This drives to the area a lot of Health & Wellness tourism.

Akumal is located between Xpu- Ha and Tulum this eco-town is full of natural beauty. Akumal is a protected sea turtle breeding site. Turtles can be seen year round in this ecological oasis as well as many other rare species of coral and birds. We highly recommend Akumal, Riviera Maya.

Like the rest of the Caribbean, the hurricane season is from June to November. Although it seems like there is no low season to this tropical paradise the rainy season is from August to October. They have a semi-tropical climate (hot and muggy) The average temperature is between 22-35°C with high humidity (usually over 85%). With an average ocean temperature of around 25°C and an average 240 days of sunshine/year.
