Isla Mujeres

Isla Mujeres is Spanish for island of women. They named it this because of the many images of goddesses they discovered on the island in the 16th century.

The island is 7 km long and 650M wide, nestled in the Caribbean sea just off the coast by Cancun. The north end and central town site sees the most tourism. The south end is mostly private homes. It’s a very laid back destination especially after sunset when the day tourists head back to Cancun

Travel Times

Like the rest of the Caribbean, the hurricane season is from June to November. Although it seems like there is no low season to this tropical Paradise the rainy season is from June to October. They have a semi-tropical climate (hot and muggy) The average temperature is between 20-35°C with high humidity (usually over 85%). With an average ocean temperature of around 25°C and an average 240 days of sunshine/year.

Must See

Cafe del mar is located at Privilege Aluxes resort and has the best loungy Ibiza atmosphere. A yummy menu with creative fusion dishes and large daiquiris is a wonderful way to take in the upbeat lounge music. The MUSA underwater museum located off the western coast is perfect for snorkeling at only 4 meters deep. Can’t swim, no problem, glass bottom boats and personal submarines are only a few of the tours available. Visited by 750000 people a year it is a must see for families looking for an unforgettable outing.
