Most visit Cozumel to dive and experience the wonderful underwater life. The offshore reefs are part of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, the second largest in the world. There is a plethora of local dive shops and tours available. As well Cozumel is also known for their Cenote diving however you need to be properly licenced to do so. Onshore there are several archaeological sites of the Maya people, including El Caracol, believed to have been used by the Maya as a lighthouse centuries ago. Restaurants and bars are a plenty and like the rest of the Riviera Maya the crystal clear aquamarine waters and white sand beaches are your backdrop to paradise.
